Z-Axis connectors feature fine wires closely spaced to provide redundant electrical paths to increase reliability in high density applications.
Complex Designs
Using silicone rubber and multiple conductive paths for each connection, these connectors are found in electronics that include cell phones, radar systems, test equipment, and devices with LCD interconnections
Demanding Tolerances
Our connectors and microminiature connector wires can be custom spaced and formed to fit in demanding spaces.
Consistent Performance
Elastomeric connectors are a preferred choice for connecting electrical components when soldering isn’t an option or space is at a premium. They can create a gas-tight seal for harsh environments and are well suited for shock and anti-vibration applications.
Custom Order High Volume & Miniature Connectors
As a company driven to solve customer challenges with unique cost-effective solutions, Z-Axis Connector Company provides custom designed and manufactured elastomeric connectors to fit your specific needs. Our engineers will work closely with your team to fully understand your needs and challenges.
An elastomeric connector is a type of electrical connector that uses a rubber or silicone-based material to provide both electrical and mechanical connections between two components.
Elastomeric connectors are often used in situations where there is a need for a flexible, reliable connection that can accommodate minor misalignments, vibrations, and thermal expansion. They can be used to connect components on printed circuit boards (PCBs), LCD displays, touch panels, and other electronic devices.
The elastomeric connector typically consists of a conductive material, such as carbon or silver, embedded in a rubber or silicone-based material. The connector's conductive elements form a series of small, closely spaced contact points that mate with corresponding contacts on the other device or component.
When the two devices are pressed together, the elastomeric connector deforms to create a secure electrical and mechanical connection between them. Because the elastomeric material is flexible, it can also absorb minor misalignments between the two devices, making it a useful option for applications where precision alignment may not be possible. It provides a tight fit while allowing for more degrees of freedom in board-to-board distance, geometry and position articulation.

The Benefits of Elastomeric Connectors
Elastomeric connectors are a worthy choice for connecting electrical components when soldering isn’t an option. They can create a gas-tight seal for harsh environments and are a viable choice for shock and anti-vibration applications. Z-Axis connectors feature fine wires closely spaced to provide redundant electrical paths to increase reliability in high density applications. Unlike with mechanical stamped spring connectors, often no tooling is required allowing custom component availability with off-the-shelf pricing. Using silicone rubber and multiple conductive paths for each connection, these connectors are found in electronics that include cell phones, radar systems, test equipment, and devices with LCD interconnections.
